Year 12 Student Places 2nd in Long Jump at the QLD School Sport State Champs!
One of our Year 12 students recently competed in the 2016 QLD School Sport Track and Field State Championships, held in Brisbane on October 20/21st. Micah Rowe competed in the long jump and 100m sprint events in the 17-year-old age bracket. He came 9th in the 100m sprint, which in itself is an amazing result at state level, but his success didn’t stop there. Micah jumped an incredible 7.01m in the long jump final, scoring second place overall in his age bracket. An amazing achievement, and one that was for Micah six years in the making. “It was a great day and I really wanted to break the 7m distance, it’s something I have been working towards for a long time, and it was awesome to score a PB on the day, but to come out in second place at state level made it even better!”
Where to from here, Micah is yet to decide. Whilst he has mastered the art of flying through the air over great distances in the last six years, we have also seen him grow into a humble young man who makes our College proud with his willingness to help, commitment and loyalty. Well done Micah and all the very best for the future as you finish up Year 12.
